Cookie policy
We do not set cookies.
The site itself stores no cookies in your browser. A short note on the handful of third-party exceptions, and what would change this if it ever changed.
What we do not do
The Unseen Mind does not set its own cookies. Our analytics tool, Plausible, is specifically designed to measure traffic without them. We do not use session cookies for reader identification, do not store preferences in cookies, and do not use them for advertising.
Third-party cookies that may be set
Cloudflare
The site is served through Cloudflare, which may set a small number of cookies under specific conditions — most notably the __cf_bm bot-management cookie, which helps distinguish human readers from abusive automated traffic. This cookie is set by Cloudflare, not by us; it is session-scoped and not used for analytics or advertising.
For the current list and purposes of Cloudflare cookies, see Cloudflare’s own page at cloudflare.com/cookie-policy.
If you sign in to the forum
The forum is not live today. When it opens, logging in will set a small number of essential authentication cookies on the forum subdomain. These are necessary for the forum to function and will never appear on the main site.
If you prefer to block all of this
You can block cookies in your browser settings; the main site will still work. Some Cloudflare protections may become more aggressive in their checks (because the signal that you are a human is reduced), but content will load.
Why we do not show a cookie banner
UK ePrivacy / PECR rules require a banner only when cookies are used for purposes beyond what is strictly necessary — advertising, analytics with cross-site identifiers, etc. We do not do any of that. If we ever did, a banner would appear alongside the new tracker.
Changes
If the site ever starts setting cookies, this page will be updated with a dated note, and a banner will appear for new visitors.
