Terms of use

The terms you are agreeing to when you read this site.

Short version, in plain English: this is an information site, not medical advice; content is free to read and share with attribution; you are responsible for what you do with what you read here.

1. Not medical advice

Nothing on The Unseen Mind is medical, psychological, or clinical advice, and it is not a substitute for a conversation with a GP or other qualified practitioner. Aphantasia and SDAM are not in the DSM-5 or ICD-11 and the site is clear throughout that it does not diagnose. If something you read here concerns you, take it to a clinician.

2. Content and attribution

Unless otherwise marked, site content is published under the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence. You may quote, translate, and re-publish pieces provided you (a) credit The Unseen Mind with a link, (b) do not use the material for commercial purposes, and (c) share any derivative works under the same licence. Bulk reproduction of the full cornerstone guide requires written permission.

First-person lived-experience pieces are authored by their named contributors and are subject to the same licence unless the author has asked for a different one (which will be noted on the piece).

3. Accuracy and corrections

We try to keep the site accurate. Every factual claim is cited or labelled as lived experience. Where we get something wrong, we publish a dated correction on the affected page — see the editorial policy on the about page for the full approach. If you spot an error, email [email protected].

4. External links

The resources page and posts on the site link to external websites — research groups, charities, questionnaires. We check links before adding them, but we cannot vouch for the content of sites we do not run. If a link here leads somewhere that has since changed or broken, please tell us.

5. User-generated content (forum)

The forum is not live today — it opens later in 2026. When it does, it will have its own community guidelines and its own short terms that sit alongside these. Posting on the forum will require a separate account and will imply acceptance of those additional terms.

6. Newsletter

Newsletter subscription is free and opt-in. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every issue, or by emailing us. By subscribing you consent to our sending you the monthly newsletter as described on the newsletter page.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Unseen Mind (including its founder and contributors) disclaims liability for any loss or harm arising from reliance on site content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — in particular, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be dated at the foot of this page and mentioned in the next monthly newsletter. Typo-level tidying is silent.

9. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
